Years ago The Hartford Courant's (now defunct) Sunday magazine (Northeast) ran a Mark Twain political essay contest and editor Lary Bloom suggested these guidelines: Be Honest, Be Informative, Be Accurate, Be Daring. I have since thought of those Do-Bes as challenging criteria for what I write. The daring doesn't so much shoot for shock value, but the willingness to take the risk of saying something, well, edgy - whether it be substance or style. That's what brings me back to this blog and your writing over and over again. So, you can take the word out of the blog, but I know you won't lose your daring with a cause.Laura B.
